The beaches of the Mar Menor will have 43 kilometers of antimedusas networks this summer (12/05/2016)

The Minister of Agriculture and Water Adela Martinez-Cacho in San Javier today announced that in the coming days a total of 43 km of networks will be installed on the beaches of the Mar Menor to safeguard bathing areas the presence of jellyfish.

The action plan for the control and monitoring of jellyfish in the Mar Menor for next summer, the minister unveiled today in the city of San Javier, it has a budget of 400,000 euros and includes new as a safeguard plan seahorse, and an observatory to study the proliferation of jellyfish in the lagoon.

The counselor, who moved to San Javier accompanied by many of his team, met with the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, and councilors of Los Alcázares and Cartagena, together other sectors involved, to present a plan "that gives tranquility to bathers on our beaches, in a manner consistent with the care and study of the Mar Menor".

Adela Martinez Cachá announced new features for this year as the presence of a diver who monitor networks in areas with larger populations of seahorses, we have already detected to prevent affected.

He also announced the launch of a study, together with the Oceanographic Institute to study the evolution and proliferation of jellyfish in the Mar Menor of future actions.
