San Javier hold its VI Rural Women's Day with the theme "Water: source of our agriculture" (14/10/2016)

San Javier celebrate the International Day of Rural Women with VI Rural Women's Day on 19 October under the theme "Water: source of our agriculture", organized by the commission Municipal Rural Women's Equality Council.

Councilwoman Women, Estíbaliz Masegosa and Agriculture Councilman Antonio Luengo, accompanied by the president of the Land and Water Association, Maria Dolores Martinez, and the president of Coag-Ir, Emilio Martínez presented this morning at the office of Coag-Ir El Mirador Day "with which we continue to support our farmers and our agriculture," Manifesto Estíbaliz Masegosa.

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo, and the general director of Land Fund of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Carmen Garcia will inaugurate the conference on Wednesday October 19 at the premises of Coag-Ir in El Mirador, in an act which will be attended by the regional president of the Women of Coag-Ir Murcia and Ceres: Water and Earth, Dolores Diaz, and the mayors of Women and Agriculture.

". Rural women Achievements and Future Challenges" will be the first presentation of the morning at 10: 15h.

Vicente Sicily, expert direction and management of horticultural enterprises, retired manager of SAT San Cayetano deliver the second lecture, at 11: 30h "Notes on the importance of agriculture in the development of San Javier".

The program of the day will be completed with a technical visit, which this year will host the company "the Dulze" El Mirador and a convivial meal in Hortamira where the day will close at 16: 00h.

Councillor for Agriculture, Antonio Luengo welcomed the involvement of the Department of Women with agricultural field and highlighted the opportunity of this kind of conference "which together with the daily work of women get their presence in agriculture is increasing" and he highlighted the presence of women in the front row of the recent demonstrations calling for water.

The president of COAG in El Mirador, Emilio Martinez estimated that women and men are 50% in agriculture in the locality.

Some are farmers main title, as Maria Dolores Martinez, president of Water and Earth, in the municipality, and others on family farms.

"Where there is a farmer is a farmer," said Maria Dolores who welcomed the holding of the sixth edition of a conference that pioneered in the region.
