The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo delivered last night the titles of Campesino, Marinero and Pirata 2016 that each year are delivered within the framework of the patron saint festivities to Claudio Pérez, Oscar Villar and Pedro Javier Sánchez respectively.

The Sailor of the Year, Oscar Villar, arrived with four years to San Javier where he was born his passion for the sea to which he has dedicated throughout his life.

The current Maritime Captain of Cartagena, is Captain of the Merchant Navy, Doctor in Nautical and Maritime Transport and Captain of Corvette of the Navy, on leave.

He is in possession of the Cross of Naval Merit and is the author of several publications and of the book "Christopher Columbus, the best kept secret".

The Pirate of the Year, Pedro Javier Sánchez is sports coordinator of Aidemar and sports director of the Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

The promoter of the popular Aidemarcha charity race, attended by 3,000 people last year, has made Aidemar 130 users practice sport regularly, 50 of them federated, with important national titles in different sports.

The mayor Jose Miguel Luengo and the queen of the parties Asun Nuñez were in charge of cutting the tape that gave access to the municipal tent where minutes later they opened the 16 barracks installed in the interior and six others that do it outside the enclosure.

The tent becomes, from now on, the meeting point of the fiestas of San Javier.

The lack of space to accommodate all the rocks is one of the reasons why, from next year, the area of ​​rocks outside the city will be moved, in a new space prepared to house up to 40 peñas.
