Artichoke of Spain will celebrate in San Javier "The high of the highs" The minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment Adela Martínez-Cachá will be the godmother of the cut of the second high of the artichoke, that for the first time is (17/03/2017)

The mayor Jose Miguel Luengo and the president of the Artichoke Association of Spain, Antonio Galindo presented today in the City of San Javier the event "The high of the highs", as it is known in the sector to the cut of the second high of the artichoke, Which will take place in San Javier next Thursday March 23 with the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cachá as godmother.

The event, which has been organized by the Artichoke Association of Spain together with Murcia companies to publicize the different phases of this crop and highlight its importance in the Region of Murcia, will be held at the estate Los Buenos, near the airport of San Javier, where the councilor Adela Martínez-Cachá, the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo and the national president of the producers, sanjaviereño, Antonio Galindo will perform the cutting of the artichoke.

The event includes a tasting of a great variety of dishes prepared with artichoke with the participation of the School of Hospitality of Murcia.

Antonio Galindo explained that this event is intended to claim the Region of Murcia as "the main artichoke producing area of ​​Spain, which in turn is the second world power."

Galindo recalled that other areas in Spain already have these events "and we want Murcia to join the calendar of this type of actions that also serve to promote among consumers an essential product in gastronomy, dietetics and health."

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo stressed the importance of this event for a municipality such as San Javier where there are more than 170 agri-food companies and thanked the Artichoke Association of Spain that has set in San Javier to celebrate this event for the first time in The Region of Murcia and put in value the production of artichoke in particular and in general to the agricultural world, so important in San Javier.

The president of Artichoke of Spain, Antonio Galindo, neighbor of the municipality of San Javier, explained that the cycle of the artichoke is double with a production in autumn, which would be the first high, and another in February-March when the second high .
