Councilor for Social Services Estíbaliz Masegosa today expressed support for the "Kilo Operation" food collection campaign that takes place in the Carrefour hypermarket, from today 31 March to next Sunday 2 April, in collaboration with the Spanish Federation Of Food Banks
Masegosa attended with the director of Carrefour San Javier, Óscar Fernández to the presentation of the campaign in which the citizens are invited to donate products of nonperishable food that they can deposit in a point enabled next to the entrance of the hypermarket.
Carrefour agrees to double the total weight of the food collected for its final donation to the Food Bank.
Óscar Fernández encouraged to participate the customers of the hypermarket of San Javier in its first year of opening and remembered that in the past exercise Carrefour donated more than 8.2 million kilos of food to the Bank of Foods with which according to the calculations it was possible Reach more than 90,000 people in a year.
Joaquín Fernández, one of the volunteers working on the campaign, recalled that there is a group of volunteers who during the three days of the campaign will be dedicated to inform the public and facilitate the collection and packaging of food.
The Councilor for Social Services, Estíbaliz Masegosa thanked Carrefour "that as they said their leaders in opening the hypermarket came to be a good neighbor and is demonstrating with their social involvement."
Masegosa highlighted the importance and the magnitude of this campaign for the Food Bank, thanked the volunteers and encouraged the citizens to participate.
