The mayor, José Miguel Luengo and Councilor for Sports, Carlos Albaladejo today received in the Town Hall of San Javier the president of the Technical School Taekwon-Do ITF of the Region of Murcia, Alfredo Pérez García on the occasion of the establishment of the prestigious center of Training in the municipality.
Alfredo Pérez was accompanied by three young athletes, Nicolás Pérez, Lucas Pérez and Sanjaviereño Toby Whelan who have been selected to represent Spain in the European Cup to be played in the English city of Liverpool from 26 to 30 April.
Toby Whelan, 14, has been practicing Taekwon-Do since the age of six and after being proclaimed National Runner-up in 2016 was selected for the European to be accompanied by the veterans, Nicolás Pérez, who has been champion of Spain on 3 occasions and Bronze in two World Cups, and in the European Cup played in Rome.
His brother Lucas also has experience in a World Cup, after proclaiming himself champion of Spain in 2014.
At the meeting, the president of the ITF Taekwon-Do Technical School, Alfredo Pérez raised the possibility of holding an international championship in San Javier for the coming year, an idea that was very well received by the Councilor for Sports and the mayor Of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo who congratulated the young athletes who wanted success in their imminent participation in the European Cup.
The Taekwon-Do ITF Regional School of the ITF Region of Murcia recently organized the ITF Mediterranean Cup Taekwon-Do in Torregüera, where Murcia representatives reigned 60 medals and passed to the European Nicolas, Lucas and Toby.
Currently the School is located in the sports facilities "Villaescusa" of San Javier, with Nicolás Pérez, 3rd dan black belt as coach.
