An exhibition shows the artistic reflection of young people from four European countries on the situation of Human Rights (28/04/2017)

The right to life, human dignity, non-discrimination, the right of asylum, and freedom of thought, conscience and religion are some of the human rights behind artistic works that can be seen In the Museum of San Javier, from yesterday until the next 13 of May.

The protagonists are young high school students of art, IES Ruiz Alda, San Javier, and three other institutes in Birmingham, Frankfurt, and Iasi (Romania), united by the Erasmus + program, which has allowed them during the last two years Visit the four participating countries, and work on a common project.

The exhibition opened yesterday afternoon at the Museum of San Javier with the assistance of the Director General of Educational Innovation Ana Millán and the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo who toured the exhibition with the director of the center, Juan Manuel Sánchez and the professor And coordinator of the project Enrique Veganzones.

In the show you can find shocking works such as a photo installation of eight images with the faces of eight of the students, intervened by real shots, to remember the existence of the death penalty in many countries and the dimension that violent death acquires when It deals with people known and close.

Another work, which deals with the right of asylum, includes a typical print of a family beach day in the Mar Menor whose protagonists act outside the two bodies that lie on the shore covered with two flags of the European Union.

The right to the integrity of the person is also collected with an installation of cardboard boxes scattered on the floor, inside which there are photographs of body parts of people and barbed wire, illuminated by a light through a network of cables .

The young participants in the exhibition were present taking advantage of the visit that these days make to their companions of San Javier, a visit with which ends the project that leaves an exhibition to which it is intended to give life taking it to other places both inside and Outside the Region.

The director general of Educational Innovation, Ana Millán praised the quality of the artistic production of the works and the level of the exhibition as well as the object of the work dedicated to the Human Rights that gives rise to it.

Ana Millán defended the importance of this type of programs that allow to break linguistic and cultural borders.

The Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo congratulated the IES "Ruiz de Alda" for starting this project, as well as the team of teachers from the four participating countries and the 36 students who have developed it.

Luengo thanked the opportunity to enjoy now in San Javier the result of this work through the exhibition that has a didactic catalog, which invited to discover in the Museum of San Javier.
