A sustainable, functional and flexible project for the Almansa Park The winning draft of the contest for ideas for the remodeling of Parque Almansa, which includes a closed theater with 600 seats, is signed in Valencia by architects Miguel Martínez C (02/06/2017)

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo today opened in a public act the envelope with the data of the drafting team of the preliminary draft winner of the contest for ideas for the remodeling of Almansa de San Javier Park which was presented under the motto "SJ10" and that Takes the 6,000 euros of the prize.

The authors of the preliminary draft Miguel Martinez and Pau Botella will be in charge of drafting the final project in which small modifications or novelties can be introduced after a more detailed study of the same with their authors explained José Miguel Luengo.

The mayor was accompanied by the Dean of the College of Architects of the Region of Murcia, Rafael Pardo who was part of the jury with two other architects of the College, the architect Alfredo Payá, the councilors of Parks and Gardens, Maria Dolores Ruiz, and Culture, David Martínez, and the municipal engineer Antonio Sánchez, with the technical support of Fundamifp on accessibility criteria.

The jury highlighted the winning proposal that "maximizes the economic investment" that has a limit of 3.5 million euros according to the bases of the contest, and "power the preexisting Park making it protagonist in front of architecture."

He also emphasized that "it uses 100% of the useful surface and saves the maximum maintenance costs, especially of water and irrigation systems".

It has also taken into account that "the solutions it raises are realistic and humble, but efficiently flexible so that the City Council can make suggestions for the final project regarding pedestrianization, relocation of parking or opening to the avenue Aviación Española," among others .

The winning draft proposal proposes an Almansa park that respects all existing trees and proposes to expand it with native trees to convert it into a green lung of 32,000 square meters in the urban center of San Javier, which will not lack areas with water to refresh and childish games.

The preliminary project proposes to remove the parking lots to the perimeter of the park and rehabilitate the building of the civic center, taking advantage of what is already there, separating the building between cafeteria and other services that will connect under a pergola with a closed theater with 600 seats, which will occupy the Current function rooms of the building.

The current building will change its skin, with aesthetics in cement sheets in aesthetic harmony with the auditorium and with criteria of sustainability.

The municipal auditorium will suffer its main change in the subdivided subdivisions abroad, which will be given a public use throughout the year, compared to those that would disappear the asphalt zone replaced by green zone "dignifying the main entrance to the auditorium."

Mayor José Miguel Luengo highlighted the winning proposal its "flexibility and functionality to guarantee a multitude of uses in a park that we want to be the park of all and that we can maintain in an efficient way."

The Dean of the College of Architects, Rafael Pardo agreed to emphasize that this is "the most appropriate proposal for San Javier, sustainable, sensible and reasonable for the times we live."

Luengo recalled that the remodeling of Almansa Park was one of the most recurrent proposals of the residents of San Javier who contributed their ideas in the face of the projects that could be included in the DUSI Strategy presented by San Javier and which was approved in first call With a funding of 5 million euros of European funds that will account for 80% of the investments to be made until 2020. Luengo announced that the process carried out for the remodeling of Almansa Park will be repeated soon with the park "Prince of Asturias ", Of Santiago de la Ribera, another of the great urban parks of the municipality.

The jury chose the winning proposal among the 14 works presented to the national competition, of which also selected three acesit, one of them presented under the motto "Feel the Wave", made by a team of local architects led by Salvador Griñán ;

Another team of architects of Murcia majority headed by Elena Climent obtained a second passage for "Naturaliza your city", and the third one was for Roberto Marín with a team of four architects that was presented under the motto "Nubola Rosa".

The remodeling process of the Almansa Park will continue with an upcoming meeting with the authors of the winning proposal to address the final project that allows to include suggestions and changes for a better adaptation to the local needs.

Once the project is completed, the works will be tendered and awarded.

A public presentation of the preliminary project is also planned so that the authors can provide the details of what will be the new Almansa Park.
