San Javier hosts the 7th edition of the International High Performance Course in Basketball (30/06/2017)

Several of the main specialists in basketball in its different aspects will meet from July 14 to 16, 2017 in San Javier in the International Course of High Performance in Basketball.

In addition to elite basketball, minibasket, training of young players or sports psychology will be some of the various topics collected in this course.

The course is organized by the University of Murcia within its program of summer courses, Universidad Internacional del Mar. In this edition will have coaches such as Diego Ocampo (Joventut de Badalona), assistant coach of the team champion of the ACB, Jaume Ponsarnau, as well as the assistant coach of the other finalist, Chus Mateo, of Real Madrid.

For the first time in this course will be a remote intervention, through a videoconference, with which Joan Plaza (Unicaja) will give a talk in a non-face-to-face manner.

Jaume Ponsarnau is a classic of this course, because it will be the third time he participates, and he will speak about one of the key resources that have proclaimed league champion this year to Valencia Basket: the generation of play from the low post.

For his part, Diego Ocampo will give two talks, one referred to the defensive pressure and another on the training of technique and individual tactics.

Gonzalo Rodríguez is the assistant coach of ACB's Obradoiro, and this will be his second participation in the course, in which he will give a lecture on the importance of constant activity in defense.

Carlos Colinas, for many years coach and female coach and female coach, will talk about the concept of accelerating the development of the player through advancing the requirement in training young players.

Another old acquaintance of the course is Toni Carrillo, specialist in Minibasket, that in this edition will talk about the training of the shot in category Minibasket.

The youngest of all the coaches of this edition is Dani Miret, junior coach of Joventut Badalona, with which this year reached the final of the Spanish Championship of clubs.

Miret will speak in his talk of building the offensive game on training teams from one-on-one gameplay.

It is tradition in this course to incorporate some tangential theme to the basketball itself.

This year, this role will be played by the Sports Psychologist of the University of Murcia Francisco Ortín, who will offer a conference to help coaches manage their relationship with parents and other elements of the basketball environment.

The course celebrates its seventh edition and has for years been a national reference in training coaches.

There are more than 50 Spanish specialists in basketball who have passed through the course and more than 650 students who have decided to continue training in summer and enjoy the basketball of the highest level through this activity.
