The City Council will continue supporting the Museum of the Parish San Francisco Javier that exceeds the 20,000 visits to the year (11/07/2017)

Mayor José Miguel Luengo and the parish priest of San Javier Antonio José Palazón signed today the renewal of the collaboration agreement between the City Council of San Javier and the Parish San Francisco Javier through which the City Council contributes 11,000 euros that are destined to the maintenance of the Museum Parochial as a cultural and tourist attraction more of the municipality.

José Miguel Luengo highlighted the work of restoration, exhibition and dissemination that is done from the Parish Museum to put in value the rich heritage of the Museum that last year received more than 20.00 visits.

The Museum, directed by the director of the Department of Art History of the University of Murcia, María Griñán, exhibits pieces of art, liturgy, documents and other objects, dating from the thirteenth century.

The Museum, linked to the Parish, which has a pending exhibition for upcoming dates, currently carries out the cataloging of a series of pieces from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, which did not enter into the previous catalog, to determine their authenticity and artistic value , Explained its director, María Griñán.
