The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Francisco Jódar announced today in El Mirador a game of 150,000 euros to increase training actions in which more than 1,500 farmers and technicians have already participated on the application of the decree law of urgent measures for guarantee environmental sustainability in the Mar Menor environment.
Councilor Francisco Jódar visited El Mirador today accompanied by the general director of the Mar Menor, Antonio Luengo and the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo to know "in situ" the implementation of some of the measures included in the aforementioned decree such as construction from a perimeter hedge to plantations able to mitigate runoff and at the same time encourage the growth of useful insects that destroy other harmful crops.
Francisco Jódar chose for his visit the estate of one of the members of the Hortamira cooperative, Valentín Pérez, devoted entirely to organic farming, where an incipient hedge surrounds the crops, to set an example and disseminate this type of measures contemplated in the decree law as the prohibition to work in favor of pending.
The Minister of Agriculture said that farmers are "fully involved and fully aware that they have to develop a sustainable agriculture compatible with the maintenance of the Mar Menor."
The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo also pointed out the involvement of the municipality's farmers, as evidenced by the fact that Hortamira is a leader in sustainable and ecological agriculture, even advancing the urgent measures included in the decree to guarantee environmental sustainability in the environment of the Mar Menor.
