The Imagina emerging art festival opens the call for 2018 and launches the catalog of the latest edition (13/12/2017)

Imagine 2017, the emerging art festival organized by the Department of Youth, today opened the deadline for submission of artistic proposals for the next edition to be held from April 25 to 29, 2018 as announced today by the Councilor for Youth, Estíbaliz Masegosa during the presentation of the catalog "Imagina 2017" and the poster of the next edition in an act in which was accompanied by the general director of Youth, Fran Sánchez and by the new director of the Festival, Cristina Franco who replaces Alberto García who will occupy the technical production.

The catalog "Imagina 2017" documents with hundreds of images taken by the photographer Carlos Nicolás the development of the last edition of the Festival with the 26 projects exhibited, including an explanatory review of each one of them.

The physical catalog can be found in the Department of Youth and other municipal offices although you can also check the festival website www.imagina.sanjavier.es along with the rest of the catalogs of the previous editions.

The photographer Carlos Nicolás is also the author of the poster "Imagina 2018" in which a light bulb, which represents creativity, appears submerged in the sea surrounded by marine animals that metaphorically represent the conditions that intervene in the creative process such as fear that a shark can give, the depth of a whale, or the fragility of a jellyfish, while a hook tries to extract the final result.

The new director, Cristina Franco premiered with the commitment to continue making Imagina "a reference, a showcase and a springboard" for artists convinced of its usefulness after having participated in several editions of the Festival as a creator.

"Bringing young talent to the streets and bring it closer to the neighbors" will continue to be another of the objectives of the contest that turns 15 years.

The general director of Youth Fran Sánchez highlighted the history of the Festival and announced the economic collaboration of his department in the next edition through a game of participatory budgets of the regional government that will be used to support young talent at festivals such as San Javier.

Sanchez also highlighted the effort of the City of San Javier to encourage young artists with an international festival like Imagine that turns those days San Javier into a museum on the street.

"Imagina 2018" will have a number, still undetermined, of projects that will be selected among all those received from today until March 16, 2018 through the web www.imagina.sanjavier.es where the bases can be consulted and download forms of the call or in the Department of Youth where they can be presented physically.
