The Bethlehem of Spain is renewed to celebrate its 50th anniversary (21/12/2017)

Tomorrow, Friday, December 21, it opens at 6:30 p.m. at the new Bethlehem in Spain, which has been the subject of a complete renovation to mark its 50th anniversary.

The municipal belenístico complex that occupies 520 square meters of the Plaza de España shows a new landscape, architecture and vegetation with a new composition that without spoiling its original style will surprise the thousands of people who visit it every year.

The visit to the Bethlehem, whose renovation was the work of the Friends of the Bethlehem Association of San Javier, will also allow to admire the 1200 figures that populate it and that have been the subject of a meticulous restoration process carried out during the last year in the workshop of the Griñán family that has allowed them to recover the original appearance with which they left the workshops of Murcia artisans who sign them.

The 50 years that have passed since the first nativity scene that was placed for the first time in the same square in 1967, driven by Alfonso Meca and a group of amateur neighbors and nativity scene lovers, will be celebrated with the "Alleluia" of the oratory "El Mesías" "by Handel performed by Coral Patnia accompanied by the Symphonic Band of San Javier, and the arrival of the Child Jesus in the manger in the hands of a group of living angels.

The first visit to the Bethlehem will be accompanied by a free tasting of coffees and "Murciatone", the regional adaptation of the panetone, with the collaboration of Cafés Il Trovatore and José Antonio Bakery, which all attendees will be able to taste at the presentation and inauguration of the new Belen de España, one of the largest belenistic ensembles in open-air extension in Spain and Europe.

The inauguration of the Bethlehem of Spain will have the presence of the Government delegate in Murcia, Francisco Bernabé, as well as the general director of Cultural Assets, Juan Antonio Lorca and the general director of Commerce, Consumption, and Administrative Simplification, Francisco Abril.
