The San Javier library welcomes mental health as the main theme in its new program of winter activities (23/01/2018)

The library of San Javier welcomes mental health as a prominent theme in its program of activities for the first quarter of the year that was presented today by the Councilor for Culture David Martinez with the municipal library coordinator Toni Diaz in an act that included the participation of José Manuel Ramírez, member of the Association of Families and People with Mental Illness of the Mar Menor, Afemar, together with a group of members of the association.

The program, with more than 20 different activities in addition to the center's annual projects, includes a film and mental health cycle, which is celebrated with the collaboration of Afemar, with titles such as "The good side of things", " Crazy for joy "," The soloist "and" A wonderful mind ", which will be screened on alternate Saturdays from January 27.

At the proposal of a psychology cabinet, a psychocine session will be held, which includes film and group therapy.

"Tell us your experience", is an initiative of the Reading Club that invites neighbors to share their stories of improvement.

The success of the testimonial activities continues with the serious travel "Between cultures".

The program has already prepared two travel experiences for Oceania and the Azores Islands told by its protagonists with photos and videos.

As a novelty, "Remember San Javier", a conversation workshop that will focus on the memories of the municipality, which will begin with its emblematic neighborhoods, is added on a proposal from a user.

The library will continue collaborating with the Family School in the promotion of reading with playful activities in districts.

Bilingual storytelling returns in March, and book presentations are kept, with four citations, the first of which is celebrated on Thursday, March 22 with "The messy puzzle" of Ascensión Buitrago, in which the author tells her experience as a mental illness and the barriers that had to be overcome throughout his life.

The representative of the participation committee of Afemar, José Manuel Ramírez thanked the City of San Javier and the library for the opportunity to develop this project to raise awareness about the mental illness that he defined as "the ugly sister of disabilities" to "be able to reach society the reality about mental health ".
