The Department of Education presents several projects to schools to develop with the educational community (26/01/2018)

The Councilor for Education, Catalina Perez met yesterday at the City of San Javier to the directors of schools in the municipality to present several projects that are planned to develop within the local educational community in the coming months.

One of the projects that is intended to be implemented is aimed at improving school performance of Roma students in schools, developed under the Edukaló title by the Autonomous Federation of Gypsy Associations, FAGA, whose delegate in the Juan García Santiago Region attended to the meeting to present the project to the heads of the educational centers.

Also attending the meeting were those responsible for the Municipal Plan for Children in San Javier to present the Unicef ​​educational program aimed at teaching centers within the framework of the denomination of San Javier as a Child Friendly City, by Unicef, which it translates into a general commitment to improve the living conditions of the youngest, with the encouragement of alliances between all the actors involved.

Finally, the 7th Local History Day contest was presented to the directors of the schools of the municipality. It will be aimed at 6th grade students, whose objective is to promote research, learning and conservation of local heritage among young people. .

The presentation was attended by the director of the Foundation of Historical Studies and Local Research, Francisco Chacón, the Professor of Modern History, Juan Hernández and the Doctor in Modern History Raquel Sánchez.

The History contest is motivated by the celebration last November of the VII Regional Day of Local History, in San Javier, in which in addition to the lecture offered by the Professor of Modern History and Rector of the University of Lleida, Roberto Fernández, took advantage to give a boost to local history with the announcement of an agreement between the City Council, the UMU and the Center for Historical Studies and Local Research, to develop a complete history of the municipality of San Javier from its origins.
