The Community will improve road safety on three roads in the municipal area of San Javier, while providing new connections with the AP-7 motorway and the RM-19 motorway, which connects with Murcia, which will provide greater mobility, over everything for the neighbors and users of the zone east and west of the locality.

The Minister of the Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera, said today during his visit to San Javier that these actions "will soon be a reality and benefit at least 200 companies in the area", thanks to an investment of about 4.2 million euros , of which the regional administration will contribute 3.3 million.

These works will improve communications and increase the potential of the coast and the industrial estates of Los Urreas, El Pino and Dos Mares.

Rivera, accompanied by the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, presented and explained to residents and businessmen of the municipality these actions, adding that they are "an example of the priority of the regional government to improve the road safety of their roads and put them at the service of development economic, in order to promote competitiveness and the capacity of companies in the Region.

Pedro Rivera stressed that the most important action that is going to be undertaken is the improvement of access to San Javier by the AP-7 to the Dos Mares shopping center, through the unfolding of the RM-F24 highway and the remodeling of the link with the highway, in order to "eliminate the usual withholdings that occur in that node."

"This action will benefit the more than 4.6 million trips that occur annually through this route," said the counselor, who said the project includes the construction of two new roundabouts, one that will link with the AP-7 and another that will give access to the urban developments located on both sides of the action section.

The work has a total investment of 1,736,300 euros for the next two years, and will be co-financed at 50 percent between the Community and the City of San Javier.

Improvement of the Pozo Aledo roundabout and the Sucina road

In addition, the Ministry of the Presidency and Development will remodel the roundabout that connects San Javier with the RM-19 motorway (Puerto de la Cadena-San Javier), and the AP-7 toll road, which also provides access to Pozo Aledo.

This communication hub connects directly to San Javier, Cartagena and Alicante, so it absorbs a very high traffic every day.

More than 24,000 vehicles, from the RM-19, circulate daily through this intersection.

"The improvement of the intersection will have a budget of just over 1.6 million, and will allow drivers to make traffic movements that they can not do now, such as going from San Javier and Pozo Aledo to Cartagena," explained Rivera, who He stressed that the roundabout will have a direct link to the highway to improve travel between Alicante, San Javier and Cartagena.

This action will increase road safety at the roundabout and allow greater fluidity in traffic in the area, where 8.8 million vehicles from the RM-19 circulate.

The counselor reminded that this project has been agreed with the neighbors and solves the pedestrian traffic between Pozo Aledo and San Javier, through the construction of a continuous sidewalk and a pedestrian crossing under the branch of access to the AP-7 highway.

The councilor also announced the refurbishment of the Sucina highway (RM-301), which will have a regional investment of 800,000 euros.

This action consists in the adaptation of the existing roundabout at the end of the section in its connection with the AP-7 and the construction of a new roundabout to order access to the industrial estates located on both sides of the section of action.

It also includes the construction of sidewalks and a landscaped median throughout the stretch.
