The Minister of Development, Pedro Rivera and Mayor José Miguel Luengo presented three actions to improve roads in San Javier with an investment of 4.2 million euros (02/02/2018)

The counselor of Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera and the mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo presented this morning the three projects for improving roads and access roads that will develop the regional government in the municipality of San Javier over the coming months and that will involve a total investment of 4.2 million euros.

The works, which will be tendered in the first half of 2018, are the improvement of access from the AP-7 to the roundabout of the Dos Mares shopping center, with the splitting of the road, with a total investment of 1,736,300 euros and a 10-month lead time;

the remodeling of the Pozo Aledo roundabout with a direct access to Cartagena and a pedestrian crossing from Pozo Aledo to San Javier, with an investment of 1,664,160 euros and an execution period of 6 months, and the refurbishment and renovation of the Sucina road, from the AP-7 to the Museum roundabout with an investment of 800,000 euros and a completion period of 6 months.

Councilor Pedro Rivera announced that the works of the three projects will be tendered throughout the first half of this year so they can begin in the second half of 2018, avoiding the summer months.

Its completion is planned, in all three cases, before the summer of 2019. This was communicated to neighbors and companies in the areas benefited by the works with which they held a meeting to inform individually about the details of each project and resolve any doubt in this regard, which were also present the general director of Roads, José Antonio Fernández, the Secretary General of the Ministry, Yolanda Muñoz and the councilors of Urbanism, Antonio Martínez and Public Services María Dolores Ruiz.

The mayor of San Javier stressed the importance of the investment announced this morning "with which the regional government responds to the problematic demand by residents and the City Council for some time."

Luengo said that the City will finance 50 percent of the work of splitting the access from the AP-7 to the roundabout of the Dos Mares shopping center, in addition to the drafting of the project of the remodeling of the access by the road of Sucina and the asphalting of the cemetery parking lot.

Counselor Pedro Rivera stressed that the actions presented are "an example of the priority of the regional government to improve the road safety of their roads and put them at the service of economic development, in order to promote competitiveness and capacity of companies."

Pedro Rivera recalled that the works will benefit 195 companies in the area as they improve the communications of polygons such as Los Urreas, El Pino and the Dos Mares tertiary use zone.

Improvement of access to San Javier by the AP-7 to the Dos Mares shopping center

The improvement of the access to the municipality from the highway to the junction with the N-332 will mean the unfolding of the RM-F24 highway and the remodeling of the link with the highway with the aim of eliminating traffic retentions on a road through which it is annually they produce 4.6 million trips.

The project includes the construction of two new roundabouts, one that will link with the AP-7 and another that will give access to the urban developments located on both sides of the section of action.

The work, which also takes into account the drainage of rainwater, has an investment of 1,736,300 euros co-financed at 50 percent between the regional government and the City of San Javier.

Pozo Aledo roundabout

Another of the actions will involve the remodeling of the roundabout that connects San Javier with the RM-19 motorway, which comes from Murcia, the AP-7 motorway, and Pozo Aledo.

The works are focused on building a direct link to the AP-7 motorway towards Cartagena from the roundabout, nonexistent until now, which will allow the residents of Pozo Aledo and San Javier to connect with the highway towards Cartagena from the current roundabout.

The action will improve road safety at the roundabout in an area that circulates 8.8 million vehicles a year from Murcia.

The counselor recalled that the project, agreed with the neighbors, includes a pedestrian access between Pozo Aledo and San Javier, through the construction of a continuous sidewalk, two meters wide and a pedestrian crossing, new construction, under the access branch to the AP-7 motorway five meters wide, leaving the current access, rejected by the neighbors, exclusively for the passage of water.

Sucina Road Conditioning

The project includes the remodeling of the current roundabout that connects with the AP-7 and the splitting of the road to a new roundabout, with a median of palm trees, to order access to the industrial estates located on both sides of this stretch.

From the second roundabout, the current pines bordering the road will be maintained with only one lane in each direction.

This action, which will put an investment of 800,000 euros includes the construction of sidewalks and aesthetic improvement of access to the urban core, as well as the paving and integration of the parking area of ​​the cemetery.
