The Queen's Choice Gala 2018 opens Saturday the 30th edition of the Carnival of Santiago de la Ribera (09/02/2018)

The Carnival of Santiago de la Ribera starts this weekend with its most anticipated date, the Queen's Choice Gala 2018 to be disputed by five muses, M.ª Carmen Ballester from the comparsa "Olé Olá";

Bárbara Ramírez from "Los que faltaban";

Elena Gallego of "Let go with Los Pioneros";

Susana Sánchez from "Akelarre" and Judith Pardo from "Río".

A jury composed of five people related to design, festive events and media will be in charge of choosing the Queen after the presentation of each of the muses accompanied by their muse will represent a choreography with which every year the comparsas to give a show and surprise the hundreds of people who will cover the carnival tent located in the gardens "Prince of Asturias" of Santiago de la Ribera.

The Gala that will be recorded by the regional television 7 Region of Murcia and led by two presenters of that chain, will begin with the performances of Ballet Kebana and Saturnalia Show, followed by the proclamation of the monologist Juan Luis Hurtado "Roper" and the presentation of a video tribute to the 30 years of history of the coastal carnival.

The Children's Carnival Queen, a title to which seven candidates are presented, will be chosen by lot at the Gala to be held on Sunday, February 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the carnival tent with performances for the little ones.

In the morning, at 12 noon, the III Canine Carnival will be celebrated, with prizes for the three best costumes, in the Barnuevo esplanade, with the participation of several animal protectors that will have booths where they can inform their interested public about their function.

The Carnival program is extended during the following week with a rest day on Monday 12 to continue on Tuesday with the Children's Carnival.

On Wednesday the Carnival of Associations is celebrated, and on Thursday the 15th the Chirigotas Contest, followed by a Choreography Contest on Friday night.

The weekend will start strong with a Pasabares Carnavalaero and a carnival evening that will end the night of Cabaret and a popular costume party with Dj's.

On Sunday the 18th the parade of comparsas will say goodbye to the Carnival for this year.

The atmosphere of Carnival is enhanced by the Carnavalera de la Tapa Route that will remain open until February 17 and the commemorative exhibition of the 30 years of Carnival in Santiago de la Ribera that can be visited until February 25 in the Barnuevo House.
