The Festival de Jazz de San Javier has a double concert night (08/07/2010)

Marcus Strickland one of the saxophone, tenor and soprano, plus highlights of the new contemporary jazz acts for the first time at the Festival de Jazz de San Javier where, accompanied by his quartet, will present his latest album, "Of Song", a work that recalls the great records of John Coltrane ballad, which mixes original compositions with classic songs like "Ne Me Quitte Pas" and "It'sa Man's Mans's World", among others.

Marcus Strickland, who has worked with Wynton Marsalis, Roy Haynes, or Christian McBride, among other greats of American jazz, will perform with the same quartet that recorded "Of Song" which contains his twin brother, the brilliant drummer Strikland EJ, bassist Ben Williams and the pianist David Bryant, who join the tenor and soprano sax Marcus Strickland to 30 years old treasured awards and honors such as the rising star of the soprano sax that granted in 2008 criticism in Downbeat Magazine, or the best new artist given by readers in the magazine Jazz Time Magazine in 2006.

On the first night concert double this year's Festival de Jazz de San Javier act, second, bass virtuoso Avishai Cohen, born in Israel and based in New York, where he moved to develop the passion that jazz music transmitted by Jaco Pastorius and Eddie Palmieri, recognized his musical references, on which Bach places, reflecting its deep musical training both classical and jazz.

Avishai Cohen is an old friend of the Festival de Jazz de San Javier who lent his image on the poster for the fourth year through a snapshot taken by photographer Marta Pinilla.

Occurred during the second edition of the Festival in which he acted as part of the sextet "Origin" the pianist Chick Corea, who has been a great mentor in the United States, offering his own record label to record, and with him not only in "Origin "but also in the Chick Corea New Trio.

Danilo Perez and Brad Mehldau, were other of the first great artists he worked with Avishai Cohen after their first years in New York where he currently is recognized as one of the most recognizable bassists in jazz in the city.

Herbie Hancock, Roy Hargrove, Bobby McFerrin and Alicia Keys are some of the great artists he has recorded.

In his concert at San Javier Jazz, Avishai Cohen will be playing bass and electric bass accompanied by singer Karen Malka, Shai Maestro on piano, and percussion Doari Itamar.

Cohen presented at San Javier Jazz her new album "Aurora" (EMI 2009), which has received excellent reviews, and which fuses jazz with the Mediterranean tradition, one of the most anticipated concerts by jazz aficionados and creative risky.
