Dhafer Youssef San Javier Jazz presents his new album "Abu Nawas Rapshody" in his only concert in Spain (23/07/2010)

The debut concert in San Javier Jazz Dhafer Youssef, virtuoso singer and oud (Arabic lute) can become one of the surprises of this year's Festival which serving for the first time this musician, born in Tunisia and living in Europe for 19 years , with a unique, naturally blends Sufi tradition with European jazz.

Dhafer Youssef, is the result of an explosive mixture that begins in his native Tunisia with traditional Islamic chants practiced in childhood, and his passion for the oud that he learned to play by ear.

His encounter with Europe sought involves the discovery of jazz and other musical culture have continued to nurture his creativity ever since.

His virtuosity on the oud competes with its ability to record voice, treble and bass, boundless.

A voice that gives depth and significance to a unique sound that combines ingredients Arab, jazz and contemporary.

Youssef has released six albums since 1999 when it appeared "Malak", the result of a first encounter with jazz musicians in the city of Vienna where he installed his arrival in Europe.

Of its close relationship with Nordic music and their approach to Nu-Jazz-mail, emerges his collaboration with guitar great Norwegian, Eivind Aarset, among many others.

Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu has been another major European jazz musicians who has played with Dhafer Youssef has published this year new album "Abu Nawas Rhapsody", dedicated to the Arab poet Abu Nawas Persian origin.

Jazz concert in San Javier will present the new album accompanied by the excellent musicians that made the recording, the formidable pianist Armenian Tygran Hamasyan, bassist Chris Jennings and the spectacular drummer Marc Giuliana, whose technical quality adds to a firm commitment to experimentation proposed by the captivating music of Dhafer Youssef.

The magic of the first part of the evening will give way to the rhythm of the boogie woogie and blues with two great pianists on the scene, the U.S. Barrelhouse Chuck, genuine blues pianist and singer from Chicago and Catalan exponent Lluís Coloma, keyboard , boogie woogie and blues in Spain.

Barrelhouse and acting in training Coloma quintet, will star in a duel for two pianos, piano and Hammond B3 against the best coming out of these two great pianists which predict a direct electric.

Barrelhouse who studied with the great pianists of Chicago, Sunnyland Slim and Pinetop Perkins, among others, developed a unique style blues and boogie woogie that has placed him on top of an unusual genre in Spain and that from its Lluís Coloma was delivered early, common in blues and boogie festivals throughout Europe, in direct insurmountable in getting the public to convey their passion for a pace that brings your personal touch.

On the stage of Jazz San Javier will be accompanied by musicians of Coloma, Dani Pérez on tenor sax, Baltasar Bordoy on guitar, Manolo Germain on bass and Marc Ruiz on drums.
