The campaign "You dirty dog" ended with 19 complaints for violations of City ordinances (29/07/2010)

The police force of San Javier made a total of 19 complaints to private owners of dogs for conduct contrary to municipal law in the first half of July and into the municipal campaign, "You dirty dog."

The campaign which involved the departments of Parks and Gardens, Health and Public Safety began last May with a phase information and public awareness about the cleanliness of public spaces.

The last phase of the campaign has focused on the enforcement of it has resulted in 13 complaints for driving with unrestrained dog on public roads, 3 for driving and stay with the dog loose in parks and gardens, other 2 for the same reason but on the beach, and 1 for driving with a dog classified as potentially hazardous subject or muzzle, according to Public Safety Councilman Manuel Leal.

Breaches of protection orders and pet ownership, parks and gardens, urban hygiene and the use and exploitation of the beaches, compliance with which recalls the campaign "You dirty dog", carries fines of up to 750euros .

Police surveillance in compliance with the campaign carried out throughout the day by uniformed and plainclothes.

The parks that we have detected a higher incidence of offenses with La Rambla, Path of Remembrance, The Migala, Barrio de los Rios, in San Javier, Roda playground and Atalayón, Cape Huertas, Mil Flores and White Carrera in Santiago de la Ribera.

The Councillor for Citizen Security, Manuel Leal appealed to dog owners "in order to raise awareness about the need to respect the environment on public health and safety when they move with their animals, for the good of all."

Leal added that "there is any interest penalty by the council, but we must enforce existing ordinances aimed at improving the quality of life and citizen."
