San Javier hosted the XII Congress of the Spanish Society of Medical and Relief in Mountain Week, which was held from October 29 to November 1 at the School of Sport Sciences Campus San Javier with the participation of EMTs , mountain experts, and athletes such as Murcia Miguel Ángel García Gallego.
The conference was opened by the Mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia in the auditorium of the Faculty of Sport, addressed health concerns in both the mountain and the role of nurses in training, prevention and assistance to accident victims mountain, and health training of the rescuers.
Among the participants were José Ramón Congress Morandeira, pioneer surgeon in Spain in the treatment of frostbite, José Luis Terreros, deputy director general of Sport Superior Council of Sports, Emili Duran, renowned mountaineer doctor, Pedro Garijo, operational responsibility of the Mountain Rescue Unit of the Guardia Civil, and Pere Rodes Muñoz, director of the magazine "Snow and Avalanche," among others.
The athlete García Gallego joined first Portuguese Joao Garcia climb the 14 peaks over 8,000 meters in the world.
