Social Services launches a service to students expelled from schools (25/11/2010)

The Civic Center of San Javier Social Services has launched a pilot rehabilitative care aimed at students who are expelled temporarily from their institutes.

The service began last October offered in the library of San Javier, where students can go on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 08:30

to 14:00 h.

During the first part of the morning the students are trained in the dynamics of conflict resolution, social skills, self esteem, and communication skills among other things, taught by experts from the Centre of Social Services.

In the other half in the morning two volunteer teachers work with students on homework that since high school were recommended for expulsion period.

The center that expelled students, usually between 3 and 5 days, is responsible for referring them to the service, but only do so if the student's parents, once informed, given their agreement.

In that case, the institutes will match the days of expulsion to the days in which this service is available, presented as a voluntary alternative for expelled students.

The service, which has been designed as a pilot runs from 28 October and so far have been derived from two students from both one of the three institutes of the municipality.
