The Commission gave its prizes Peasants Party, Sailor and Pirate of the Year (27/11/2010)

The festival committee gave its annual awards last night Farmer, Sailor and Pirate of the Year were awarded to Antonio Carrasco, Socaire Sports Association, and Jose Ballester, respectively.

The awards coincide with the opening of the barracks of the rocks inside the festive tent where from this weekend's scheduled events are intensified because of the festivities.

The mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia was responsible for presenting the awards at a ceremony held in the hall of the municipality of San Javier taken by the standards of the festive rocks.

The Farmer of the year, Antonio Carrasco is a farmer "since I can remember", he recalled that he himself confesses a love of the land to which he has dedicated his professional life, not forgetting his great passions, music and the old motorcycles.

The title of Sailor of the Year as picked Joseph A.

Villaescusa president Socaire Sports Association, founded in 1982 by a group of young sailing enthusiasts, and converted, through an agreement with the Municipal Sports in Vela Municipal School for which they have been more than 20,000 students and trained over 250 monitors.

The Pirate of the Year award for the social sphere, was José Ballester retired teacher, lover of local history, which reviews in San Javier Radio every week for over six years.

He has published two books and is preparing a third on the Republic in San Javier.

Directs the Parish Museum, and is a founding member of the Friends of Bethlehem, among other of his many occupations.

After the awards ceremony, the queen and ladies of the festivities, followed by the prize winners and officials opened the festive parade of the rocks to the tent where he proceeded to the opening of the 16 huts that the rocks will take care of keeping active during next two weeks, with a rich cuisine.

The local group "Return" set to music of the 70s and 80s at the start of the celebrations which will run until Saturday 11 December.
