The government delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, this morning visited the company premises Fruit The Dulz SL Murcia, San Javier, to inquire about the development of research projects it carries out with the support of the Ministry Science and Innovation through the CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technological Development) and with the University of Murcia.

González Tovar reported that Fruit The Dulz has participated in two interesting research projects, one already completed, consists of RFID-useless part of each unit of lettuce, so that is achieved to maximize each products.

For this research the contribution of the Government of Spain, through the CDTI, amounts to more than 725,000 euros.

Also, Fruits The Dulz is part of a consortium of six companies in the area, along with the University of Murcia, is running a very innovative project aimed at controlling and optimizing all the parameters that directly influence the final results production of horticultural crops consumption, so as to achieve maximize production yields, while minimizing the required inputs.

To this end, we have designed software systems, electronic equipment and mechanical equipment to enable the achievement of these objectives.

The Government of Spain has financed this project with a value of over 4 million euros.

Through this research has made an automated system to measure various parameters that affect the growth and development of lettuce, such as fertilization, irrigation, temperature, light, etc., so that the system itself to make decisions that would take the agronomists and vary these parameters for better production performance.

This system has the ability to adapt to any climatic and growing conditions, so it may be placed both within the Region of Murcia, as in any of the many countries that today are doing this type of production.

The delegate stressed that the Government of Spain is funding since 2007, research projects and innovation of a hundred companies in Murcia to all types of sectors and profiles, with more than 83 million euros.

These grants, from the CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technological Development) is channeled through projects such as Zenith (10 million), projects of cooperation between SMEs (11 million); Neotec (2 million) and other EUR 60 million in various programs of research, development and technological innovation.
