14 Festival International de Jazz de San Javier 2011 (19/04/2011)

The 14th annual Festival de Jazz de San Javier, dedicated to the memory of Gary Moore and Solomon Burke, concentrated between June 25 and July 30 in San Javier to some of the best musicians in Jazz and Blues on the current scene .

The return of the legendary pianist Ramsey Lewis, this time with his Electric Band and Jazz-Funk project, a genre he invented, the first concert in Spain Jazz-Rock supergroup, Chicago; the return of Eric Burdon & The Animals , and the announced presence of the two most prestigious big bands in the world, the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra with guest artist John Pizzarelli, highlighted in a program filled adventure stars one of the Festival editions brightest.

Other jazz greats such as Jamaican pianist Monty Alexander, guitarist Lee Ritenour California, or the guitarist John Scofield also will give way to younger players who already enjoy worldwide reputation as the Japanese pianist, Hiromi with his new trio, the pianist Danish Niels Lan Doky, or the new star of the accordion, Frenchman Ludovic Beier.

Among the extensive European presence in this year's Festival highlights, as always, the Spanish jazz with the group's pianist Sergio Monroy Cadiz, the Mallorcan guitarist's trio with violinist Biel Ballester Costel Nitescu as a guest, the trio of pianist Albert Bover Catalan with singer Carla Cook and the quartet of pianist also Jaume Vilaseca Indian sitar with Ravi Chary.

Other prominent figures are the singer Rene Marie, the grande dame of the bossa nova Leny Andrade or the French Pink Turtle.

The blues and rock will be of great prominence, as one would expect in an edition dedicated to Gary Moore, and so, in addition to the aforementioned Chicago and Eric Burdon, announcing the visit of Elvin Bishop, Lucky Peterson, Albert Lee & Hoogans's Heroes and veteran British singer Chris Farlowe with the Norman Beaker Band, not to mention the prestigious San Francisco bluesman Joe Louis Walker.

One issue, therefore, with concerts that will satisfy the most diverse tastes and that remains true to the politics of popular price festival tickets and passes to facilitate public access to that temple of jazz and blues is the auditorium of the Park Almansa.

Most of the concerts may be enjoyed by fans all over Spain thanks to the collaboration of Jazz San Javier, another year, with Spanish Television, Radio 3 and 7 Murcia.
