San Javier Civil Protection is working with human and technical resources in the relief efforts for those affected by earthquakes in Lorca (12/05/2011)

The Civil Protection Service of the municipality of San Javier has participated in the work of search, transfer and care to people affected by the earthquakes that occurred yesterday afternoon in Lorca with a total of 19 volunteers from the group of San Javier.

Volunteers have spent all night working on the areas most affected by the tremors that caused multiple landslides killing 8 people and injured 223 people.

Civil Protection of San Javier has made also 2 basic life support ambulances with all your medical equipment, a vehicle with the hospital, an SUV and another vehicle for transporting people, according to the Security mayor, Manuel Leal.

Leal said the quick response of local volunteers from the service was activated after the first earthquake, but it was when the second quake was stronger than the first, when it became necessary to strengthen effective to address the thousands of people that were affected.

Volunteers from San Javier Lorca traveled to last night.

and 14 of them back this morning while the rest remain there helping in the care of people who were evicted from their homes.

Security Councilman San Javier, Manuel Leal reported that the Civil Protection Service of San Javier maintains the alert "for rapid response assistance at any time necessary."
