San Javier Jazz presents, unique concert in Spain, the legendary pianist Ramsey Lewis, with his new project Jazz-Funk (05/07/2011)

The Festival de Jazz de San Javier offers the first in Spain to the French accordionist Ludovic Beier, which bills itself as one of the surprises of this year's Festival that goes with the Quartet New Montmartre.

Ramsey Lewis (Chicago, 1935) published his first album "Gentlemen of Swing" in 1956.

Since then, a prolific and creative career, has recorded 82 albums as leader, winning seven gold albums, three Grammys, and the admiration and respect of critics and audiences.

Maurice White, leader of the legendary soul-funk group Earth, Wind & Fire, began his career as a drummer in the Ramsey Lewis Trio, who will share a great friendship.

In San Javier Jazz, Ramsey Lewis will perform with his electric band consisting of Michael Logan (keyboards and vocals), Joshua Ramos (bass), Charles Herat (drums), and by the renowned singer and guitarist Henry Johnson, who many compared to the great George Benson.

The evening will begin with the first concert dedicated to the French accordionist Ludovic Beier, the Festival de Jazz de San Javier presented for the first time in Spain, as happened with great success, with another Frenchman accordionist Richard Galliano, the fifth edition Festival.

Beier contains an impressive technique, a lyrical, clear French heritage and his love of jazz, with an amazing final result that guarantees the continuity of the accordion in the field of jazz, which is rare, except the great master Galliano .

Beier's meeting with the gypsy jazz guitarist Angelo Debarre marked his career as a jazz musician and about the same time his consecration world after a series of concerts at the famous club "Birdland" in New York, Montreal and festivals in Europe and the United States.

Also participated at the "Magic of Toots" at Carnegie Hall in New York with Toots Thieelemans, Herbie Hancock, Eliane Ellias, Ivan Lins, Joe Lovano and Paquito D'Rivera, among others.

His recent works include "Django Brazil", again with Angelo Debarre, which takes the music of Django Reinhardt in the realm of Brazilian music to commemorate the birth centenary of the great Gypsy jazz guitarist.

Ludovic Beier perform in San Javier in the formation of the quartet, the Quartet New Montmartre complete with Christophe Cravero (piano and violin), Diego Imbert (bass) and Stéphane Huchard (drums).
