He started playing piano at age twelve, and after passing through the Berklee College of Music, has completed a long career with 30 albums as a leader with leading jazz labels such as Milestone, Blue Note and Verve, among others.

He has worked with great musicians such as Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen, who served as a mentor for Niels Lan Doky, John Scofield, Geneva Vannelli, or the elite of American jazz to his arrival in New York, as Al Foster, Charlie Haden, Bill Evans, Al Jarreau, among many others.
