The bobbin lace made in art (02/12/2011)

Bobbin lace exposure stars can be seen these days in one of the halls of the municipal museum of San Javier, organized by the Department of Trade and Handicrafts, with the collaboration of the Department of Culture.

The exhibition, inaugurated by the councilman of Commerce and Handicrafts, Pedro Lopez and CEO of Consumer Affairs, Commerce and Handicrafts, Maria Dolores Alarcon, hosts dozens of works by the lace of about 60 local associations, Aboma that work on roll, a type of lace that dates back to the sixteenth century, which they have become guardians in these modern times.

The arrival of machines for the textile industry relegated this thread filigree, very common until the middle of last century, but increasingly more people, mostly women, in addition to the traditional claim of the socket.

The exhibition shows the many applications of the type of roll, in tablecloths, curtains, cushions, bedding and cradle, shawls, handkerchiefs, and fans.

You can also see a complete "set of wedding", including from the league of the bride to the groom's tie.

The councilman of Commerce, Pedro Lopez said the work of the San Javier lace formed in partnership since 1999, and especially his teacher, Carmen Bautista.

Lopez said his continued activity with lace-7 meetings already have been held in the municipality, and others who assist in various parts of Spain.

The mayor expressed his commitment to developing the potential craftsman who is in San Javier and make it known to the public.

The general director of Consumer Affairs, Commerce and Handicrafts, Maria Dolores Alarcon also stressed the importance of taking to the streets and raise awareness of this type of craft work to contribute to their survival.

One of the lace, Conchi Olmos, recited a poem in a tone of humor that reflected the "experiences of a lace" which alluded to his "lover, roll."

The verses reflected the tastes become almost "addicted" to feel for this art, for which it requires some patience.

A work, de-stressing for some, and easier than it seems according to experts lace, which continue to meet two days a week to work together while sharing the roll figures and conversation, in the traditional way.
