Feeling like the disability itself, identify barriers and improve social relationships are the objectives of R Awareness Day "Know my disability. Freaky Friday" to be held on 7 May at Sacred Heart College, San Javier , according to the Councillor for Equality, Celia Martinez.
The event is organized by the City Council Equality through the commission for social integration, in which bodies are represented as the ONCE Fundamifp, Aidemar, Afemar, or the Federation of the Deaf Murcia.
Councillor Celia Martinez and representatives of various associations presented today the day to be held from 15 to 17:00 h.
to children of junior kindergarten, and consisting of a circuit with four stations dedicated to visual disabilities, hearing, physical and mental.
Children, in small groups, will have the opportunity to experience how different disabilities live.
Then perform a work of identifying external barriers that will be sent to the council.
The presentation was attended, Francisco Jesus Perez, president of the federation of the deaf Murcia, Yolanda Hernandez of ONCE, Nieves Castro Aidemar, and Gem of Fumdamif Blázquez, along with a representative from the school "Sacred Heart of Jesus."
They all agreed on the importance of such initiatives and that is a first step, to continue working for integration and removing barriers.
Councillor for Equality, Celia Martinez thanked also the contribution of these organizations, along with others that make up the integration committee and referred to the day as "the first of many that we export to the Administration and other schools" .
Martinez stressed "teamwork that has brought this initiative to raise awareness through knowledge and experience to engage children and feel the disability of others."
