The Carnival of Santiago de la Ribera and names a town square (16/02/2013)

The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez and committee chairman carnival of Santiago de la Ribera, Jose Carrio discovered this morning a plaque dedicated to the Carnival of the city which celebrates its 25th anniversary and from today will name a square in the city center opposite the tourist office.

Juan Martinez said the carnival square was pursuing a public space to all the people of Santiago de la Ribera identified with its carnival and recalled that it was in the vicinity of that place which emerged 25 years ago the town carnival, This year also marks the 125th anniversary of its founding.

The mayor of San Javier added that with this gesture is in response to a request from the Commission, to mark its anniversary and pays homage to all the people who work and live the carnival.

In the same terms Jose Carrio ruled that the act gave all the carnival of Santiago de la Ribera, finishing with a Live the Carnival which was answered by the dozens of people who attended the event.

Saturday's extensive and varied program of Carnival, which began last weekend with the election of queens, celebrates its popular carnival, a festival to be held in the tent at the esplanade Barnuevo and in which the public is disguised freely with prizes for the best individual costumes for couples and groups.

Sunday morning February 17 will, from the esplanade Barnuevo, the first of a parade troupes taking part in more than 2000 people grouped into 50 groups and troupes, 20 local and 30 visitors arriving from Cartagena, Torre Pacheco, San Pedro the Pinatar, Los Alcazares, Jumilla, Patiño, El Algar, Sewer, Sangonera, Mula, Aljucer and Torrevieja.

The parade will be the first in local troupes that will open up a parade that is expected to fill multitudinous Avenue between San Javier and San Javier with music and color.

Carnival Queen 2013, Isabel Ferrer, Olé Ola troupe of local participation closes and opens the troupes visitors also choose to contest best troupe.
