Youth of San Javier, San Pedro and Los Alcazares address Internet safety with young Swedes and Italians for a European exchange (14/05/2013)

Promoting safe and responsible use of the Internet is the topic addressed young people between 14 and 18 years of San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcazares with other young people from Sweden and Italy, thanks to an exchange that has been supported by the European Commission within Youth in Action project, which will be held from 5 to August 13 next in Murcia.

The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez, the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, and Mayor of Los Alcazares, Anastasio Bastida, along with their respective councilors Youth, Estíbaliz Masegosa, Angela Gaona and Francisco Mendez, came together to present today in the city of San Javier this exchange all stressed their importance to encourage young people's reflection on the effects of inappropriate Internet use.

Councilwoman Youth council of San Javier, Estíbaliz Masegosa explained that youth correspondents themselves were those who proposed the idea of ​​this exchange that may materialize thanks to a European grant of 17,500 euros for development in Spain, will be the host country .

In total 35 young people participate, including 16 municipalities in the Mar Menor, where they exert as youth correspondents, 8 in Sweden and 8 in Italy, will be staying in El Valle, Murcia.

Each municipality has prepared a reception day group and recreational activities, which include working sessions on cyberbullying, youth information and Internet security, among other topics.

Masegosa explained that the European partners are interested both in relation to internet security as in the figure of youth correspondent, launched with great success, by the Department of Youth, and that is to be the young people themselves who are responsible for transferring the information of interest youth in their respective fields, with previous training necessary.

The project culminated with the youth exchange, if next year asking partner countries, as in this case has been made from Spain, the same European grant would allow the visit of the young Spanish to Sweden and Italy.
