XVI Festival de Jazz de San Javier 2013 (16/05/2013)

The XVI Festival Jazz San Javier 2013 will feature "celebration" of the 25th Anniversary of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, the return of The Blues Brothers Band, Uriah Heep, the first concert in Spain of Shuggie Otis, Bettye LaVette , Dahfer Youssef, Thierry Lang and John Pizzarelli, among other great musicians

The Festival, to be held from June 29 to July 27, 2013, granted the award of this edition Navarre saxophonist Pedro Iturralde "one of the great Spanish jazz with Tete Montoliu," said its director Alberto Nieto, who accompanied by the mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez and the Councillor for Culture, Inmaculada García, presented an edition that will feature 21 concerts spread over 11 nights.

China Moses, daughter of the great Dee Dee Bridgewater, demonstrated at San Javier Jazz why it has become one of the most sought after singers of the moment, in the concert given by Raphael Lemonnier.

Jazz San Javier 2013 will also, with Lou Donaldson, one of the greats of the golden age of jazz, saxophone historic late 50s and recorded for EMI, which at 80 years is still going strong.

Donaldson will be performing in quartet formation containing a destacadísima Japanese organist Akiko Tsuruga, comparable to the vigorous pianist Hiromi, but in front of his Hammond B3.

John Pizzarelli, is another of the most anticipated returns, like the great Israeli bassist Avishai Cohen, and saxophonist Bill Evans with his blend of jazz, funk, rock and folk, accompanied by Soulgrass Band.

The Festival de Jazz de San Javier, hosts for the first time Jon Batiste and Stay Human.

Jon Batiste, pianist, and singer, has been one of the great revelations from New Orleans, with a strong sense of rhythm and spectacle.

In his look at other genres adjacent to the jazz, the Jazz Festival of San Javier will this issue with the British rock band of the '70s, Uriah Heep, presented with singer John Lawton as special guest.

The soul and blues of The Original Blues Brothers Band flood the Almansa Park Auditorium, which returns for the third time this legendary band, led by guitarist Steve Cropper and saxophonist Lou Marini.

The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez said the quality of the submitted program for editing after budget cuts last year, has gotten even increase it in this edition.

Martinez reiterated the support of the City Jazz Festival, "which is a great incentive cultural, tourism and economic development for the municipality."

The councilman of Culture, Inmaculada García coincided with the Mayor to acknowledge the support of the sponsors of the Festival, as well as municipal support to the Festival.

Garcia reported that the Festival tickets and passes will go on sale from next Monday with prices that will remain popular.

Tickets for 9 of the 11 nights cost 100 euros.

The ticket price is 15 euros, excluding Saturday July 13 to be 20 euros, and Friday July 19 will cost 25 euros.
