San Javier celebrate World Environment Day with a varied program of activities and an invitation to responsible consumption (23/05/2013)

The mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez and the Environment Councillor, Celia Martinez presented this morning the program of activities organized to mark the World Environment Day to be held from 3 to 7 June through visits, exhibitions, activities with schools , theater, competitions and ecological market, which has among other attractions, a demonstration of the life cycle of the silkworm looms included.

Celia Martinez explained that work on responsible consumption after the motto of this year's World Environment Day "Think. Obligor. Saves", to bring out the enormous waste and food waste that occurs today.

A reality that coexists with malnutrition suffering of the world's population, and that affects the environment, pollution and resource depletion.

The program kicks off on June 3 with a guided tour of the Casa del Agua, in Santomera, and a photo exhibition "Under the Same Sun" by Lina Jimenez on African women "closely related to food shortages."

On June 4, dozens of students pass through the workshop "Know your plants, take care" that will give the technical Municipal Parks and Gardens, which will address the importance of native plants.

On June 5, World Environment Day, there will be a guided tour Calblanque Regional Park, where it will affect other landscapes beyond Park Beach, explained Mary Ciller, responsible care centers and information regional coastline, who attended the presentation, which highlighted the rich flora and fauna of the park.

This workshop will be part of the green market to be held throughout the day in the Plaza of Spain in San Javier on Thursday, June 6, with stand of organic fruit and vegetables, natural air fresheners, jewelry and accessories, natural soaps and products made with materials Aidemar recycled, and AFEM Fundamipf.

At noon there will be tasting tapas and organic rice to be served for 5 euros in exchange for 2 caps, rice, drinks and coffee.

The program closes on June 7 with a contribution to the 125th Anniversary of Santiago de la Ribera with the paper "Fishing Gear" will serve to outline the evolution of fishing in the area with Francisco Lorenzo Lopez and Jose Canovas Bolarín "Canovillas" , representing tradition and local fishing today.
