The City Council signed an agreement for the applied research of the use of agricultural residues in animal feed (02/04/2014)

Give value to agricultural residues and pruning for urban use, reduce their environmental impact, and lower costs to farms in relation to the waste they generate, are the objectives of the agreement signed today in the city of San Javier, the mayor of San Javier, Juan Martínez Pastor, Castejón Gemma Martínez, director of Technology Center for Energy and Environmental CETENMA, Vélez and Pedro Lopez, executive director of Aprovertia, technology-based company launched by the Miguel Hernández University of Elche.

The signing of the agreement between the three institutions, attended the Councillor for Environment San Javier, Celia Martinez, the Vice Chancellor of the University Miguel Hernández, Fernando Borrás and CEO of Food Industry and Agricultural Training Autonomous Region of Murcia, Angel Garcia Lidón and a large group of representatives of the local agricultural sector.

The agricultural sector, in the town of San Javier occupies 60 percent of the area, with more than 5,000 hectares and an annual production of around 20,000 tonnes of product.

The mayor of San Javier explained that this is a "new" agreement trilateral partnership, linking scientific research applied to the management of waste generated by the local agricultural sector important for reuse in animal feed, and other uses such as compost or bio-energy from pruning.
