Concert: Freddy Cole-Sole Giménez and Sedajazz Big Band (25/07/2014)

Jazz San Javier offers a night of awards, Freddy Cole, who will receive the prize of the Festival, as well as souvenirs, Bebo Valdés with the voice of Sole Giménez and Sedajazz Big Band through the music of "Chico and Rita "

The jazz pianist and singer Freddy Cole, the younger brother of the legendary Nat King Cole, regarded worldwide as one of the great jazz singers active, you receive the Prize XVII International Festival de Jazz de San Javier on Saturday July 26 after the concert given at Jazz San Javier which will present its superb new album, the critically acclaimed, "This & That".

The musician and singer at the New York Times credited "an impeccable sense of swing and big expressive maturity" and stating that "the best live jazz vocalist" scores Festival Award in recognition of a long and successful career that keeps it active in both studio and live, after 62 years to record his first song "The Joke's on Me" in 1952.

Freddy Cole boasts an immense repertoire and mastery of the vocalists of his generation, in an elegant way, print all your personality to any song, not just jazz standards, but also adaptations of other genres as demonstrated by its rich discography with titles like "Rio de Janeiro Blue", "In the Name of Love" which revisits themes of great artists such as Van Morrison and Smokey Robinson, among others, and "Waiter, Ask the Man to Play the Blues" also many other jobs that has been surrounded by great musicians such as Harry Allen, Grover Washington, Jr. and pianist Cedar Walton.

Freddy Cole, who already went through Jazz San Javier, is back with his usual quartet is completed with Randy Napoleon on guitar, Curtis Boyd on drums and Elias Bailey on bass.

The second part of the evening will be dedicated to the memory of the great Bebo Valdés, who has also gone through the stage of Jazz San Javier and he is now remembered through the soundtrack of the film "Chico and Rita" Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal, where tribute is paid to Latin jazz.

The charge of recreating the music of Bebo Valdés is Sole Giménez, the great voice of Spanish pop, which in recent years turned to jazz with great success as demonstrated in his two previous visits to San Javier Jazz with other projects.

Now back Sedajazz accompanied by Big Band, one of the most prestigious big bands of our country, composed of 17 musicians and directed by Francisco Blanco "Latino".

The film and Sole Giménez concert with Big Band Sedajazz recreate Bebo Valdés topics included in the soundtrack, and other Chano Pozo and Machito, among many others.
