Councillor for Education and Volunteering, Cati Pérez and pedánea mayor of Santiago de la Ribera, Juli Gallut today visited the booth of "Book Market", an initiative of the municipal library, collaborating with volunteers enrolled in the Department of Volunteer through which books are given away to citizens.
Luis Montealegre, library technician Santiago de la Ribera said the initiative, which has been held for years in the market of San Javier, began last summer in Santiago de la Ribera where repeated for the second year by the good reception that has among the public.
The books on display are from donations which in turn make the citizens of titles for various reasons can not be incorporated into the library collection of the library.
As one additional to the weekly market, the library mounted to expose his own titles that citizens can be completely free.
Councillor for Education and Volunteering, Cati Perez praised the initiative which aims to promote reading among the population and give new life to books, and welcomed the cooperation of the volunteers participating in the same along the entire year in the market of San Javier, and in summer in Santiago de la Ribera.
Volunteers serve alongside library staff positions that are open in the morning to coincide with the weekly market on Wednesdays in Santiago de la Ribera and Thursday in San Javier.
