The World Mental Health Day focuses on the fight against discrimination (10/10/2014)

This year's theme chosen is "Opening minds. Closing Stigmata" as a way to combat prejudice surrounding mental disorders.

The Confederation FEAFES prepares various activities such as a day of proclamation of World Mental Health Day, a popular career and a play.

The Spanish Confederation of Associations of Families and People with Mental Illness (FEAFES) held on the 10th October, World Mental Health Day, with many activities to raise awareness about the discrimination still faced by people with mental health problems .

This year the chosen theme, "Opening minds. Closing stigmata", focuses on the need for society to know the reality of people with mental disorders and their families as a way to banish the prejudices that still weigh on this group and involving one of the main obstacles in their day to day.

To do this, FEAFES hold an information day on October 6 at the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, which is planned, to be confirmed, the presence of the minister, Ana Mato and where a member of the Committee of People with Mental Illness FEAFES will read a manifesto on behalf of this group.

The AFEM Association (Association of Families and Persons with Mental Illness and TGD Children and Youth in the Comarca del Mar Menor) celebrates this day with different activities as the beginning of the Third Edition of the School of Family, giving mental health in the weekly market San Pedro del Pinatar, its users various talks and tours, plus the manifesto will be read in the municipality of Torre Pacheco at 12:00.

From AFEM fight for and by People with Mental Illness, performing services such as can be: services for the community in which they are made including awareness campaigns and prevention in mental health;

services for people with mental illness with different host programs, and information integration and leisure time in addition to our activities and workshops at the day center and family support service courses psychoeducation and self-help groups.

Family interventions are necessary to reduce the family burden, to improve social functioning and decreased relapse.
