The library hosts an exhibition of "la Caixa" Welfare Projects on the Millennium Development Goals (05/02/2015)

The library of San Javier hosts until March 2 exposure "Buying the Cow", organized by the Social "la Caixa" Foundation and the Millennium Campaign UN.

The show, which was presented this morning by the Councillor for Culture, Inmaculada García and the Director of Business Area "la Caixa", Carlos Melero, addresses 8 Millennium Development Goals through the vital experience of 8 young people from different places world.

Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, achieve universal primary education, promote gender equality and empower women, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV / AIDS, malaria and other diseases, ensure environmental sustainability, and promoting development are the eight goals around which revolve the lives and experiences of young Kaima, Synat, Jason, Ana, Mohamed, Margaret and Urideia, real protagonists of the sample.

Hinged panels easy to read and explanatory images the exhibition explains the agreement was reached at the United Nations, signed by 189 countries to achieve these Millennium Development Goals.

The aim of this exhibition is to disseminate and promote children and young people what those goals are, so utility is direct and true account of other young people about how they have overcome and how they deal with any situations that are intended to improve with this global initiative.

The mayor of Culture, Inmaculada Garcia explained that in addition to the exhibition, on the ground floor of the library, workshops will be held to what has invited students of the municipality through schools to deepen the theme of the shows active and entertaining way.

The representative of "la Caixa", Carlos Merelo thanked the host of this exhibition by the City Library and invited all to visit and learn from the experience of overcoming each young illustrating the eight Millennium Development Goals.

"Social work is the soul of the Caixa" said Carlos Merelo who recalled that since 1997 the Social Work develops a program of international cooperation for development projects that contribute to the eradication of poverty in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

A commitment which has invested more than EUR 51 million spread over 434 projects in more than 62 countries.
