The Town Planning, Agriculture and Environment, Antonio Luengo said today at the opening of school garden school "El Recuerdo", San Javier, the benefits that a school garden provides students as "know a little better one the main activities of our municipality as agriculture and produced here many of the vegetables and fruits that we all consume ".

The mayor Antonio Luengo, accompanied by the councilors José Miguel Luengo, Pedro Lopez, Aurora Lopez and Luis Soriano visited, along with the center's director, Maria Dolores Grin, and the rest of the educational community of the school, the garden which has been the latest addition to the school program of the Department of Agriculture, on a plot of 300metros on campus.

Antonio Luengo said the garden, which is just starting, receives the human and material support from the council that brings two technicians who visit the facility two days a week in which all groups working their small plot for an hour every day.

Children have started by planting lettuces, peppers, tomatoes, and celery to continue their growth, maturation and harvesting.

The director of CEIP "El Recuerdo" Maria Dolores Grin and head of studies, Pilar Marin thanked the support of the Department for the implementation of this garden with the collaboration of teachers and the association of Parents of Students, who also attended the ceremony held this morning at school.

On the occasion, yesterday, World Water Day, the students made a demonstration of the work they have done in class on the water with an essay, song, and slogan, as well as an address in English as it is the only school in the bilingual program hosted by the Ministry of Education municipality.

The Department of Agriculture is working with four other school gardens in schools "La Paz", "Severo Ochoa", "Joaquín Carrión", and institute "Two Seas", aiming to bring a range of knowledge and values ​​to students from practice, and with the intention of extending the initiative to other centers.

The CEIP "El Recuerdo" is the newest of the municipality.

Last year the second phase of the facilities where 10 groups now operate up to 3 of the ESO with the progressive incorporation of a course every year up to 6 of the ESO opened.
