The playwright Juan Carlos Rubio receive the Award of 46 International Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance (14/05/2015)

The full City Council of San Javier has unanimously approved the start of record for the Award 46 International Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance in San Javier playwright, Juan Carlos Rubio.

Councillor for Culture, Inmaculada García was responsible for presenting the proposal to the plenary recalled that Juan Carlos Rubio, one of the essential names of Spanish theater today has maintained a long and fruitful relationship with the Festival of San Javier, where he taught two courses of drama and where you have seen many of his works as an author and theater director.

Rubio is the author of 22 plays, of which have passed through San Javier titles like "Smoke", "Arizona", "The wounds of the Wind", "Tonight I'm not for anybody" and "100m²", all with large success.

He has also translated works and versioning also passed through the Festival as "the end of the road" Willy Russeff.

As a director, along with several of his own texts, it signed 15 productions, some of which made landfall at San Javier as "Special Occasions" by Bernard Slade, "Races" by David Mamet and "big fish" of Roger Rueff.

Juan Carlos Rubio, born in Montilla, Cordoba, 48 years ago, began to combine his acting career since 1992 with writing scripts for television series like "Farmacia de guardia" or "Hands" among other.

He also made screenplays as "Return to Hansala" and "Bon Apetit".

In 1997 he released his first theatrical text "Tonight I'm not for anybody" and since then has not stopped brand in Spain and other countries in South America, United States, Australia and Europe.

Juan Carlos Rubio has directed galas such as the Malaga Film Festival Spain 2010 and the Max Awards 2011. It is in possession of numerous theater awards and was nominated for the Goya 2009 inthe category of best original screenplay for "Return to Marsala".

Among his last works out as director, "Miguel de Molina naked".

In the next edition of the Festival can be seen, on August 5, the staging of "Windermere Club" a version of himself Juan Carlos Rubio based on "Lady Windermere's Fan" by Oscar Wilde.
