The mayor visited the marina of La Manga where he met with President of the concessionaire, Tomas Maestre (28/07/2015)

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo and the mayors of Urbanism, Antonio Luengo and Tourism, Antonio Martinez today visited the Marina Tomás Maestre, in La Manga, where they were met by Tomás Maestre, President Puerto Menor, concessionaire company of port facilities;

Juan Carlos Zamora, president of the association of owners of the port, and its manager, Luis Manzano.

Luengo said the purpose of the visit was to see the facilities and operation as well as showing the institutional support of the City of San Javier "that is the largest marina in Spain, with more than 1,700 berths."

Luengo emphasized the importance of the economic activity generated by the port, and direct and indirect jobs generated in La Manga.

This summer the port has "a high occupancy with an increase of 15 percent compared to last year when a rebound in activity was already appreciated," he said Thomas Maestre welcomed the visit of municipal representatives who conveyed their willingness to continue working with the City.

Collaboration agreement between City and Port Low

The mayor of San Javier Menor Puerto publicly thanked the fruit of that collaboration which culminated three months ago with the signing of an agreement between the Marina Tomas Maestre and the City to finance the operation of the bridge Estacio.

That agreement establishes an input port to the City Council a total of 2.5 million euros, with annual contributions of increasing amounts until the year 2043, so the cost of operating the bridge will no longer rest solely on municipal coffers.

For Thomas Maestre this agreement should be treated as "a first step of the collaboration between the two institutions" to include the extension of the season from April to November "will allow not only to expand the port's activity over time it facilitates trade, and industrial and related area, you can open all year and plan beyond the summer season. "

José Miguel Luengo stressed the importance of the cooperation agreement has not only financial support but because it is an important step for the seasonality of tourism in La Manga, to extend in time the activity of the port and announced the intention of the government team of joint measures such as reductions in the IBI, to facilitate opening all year establishments in the area.
