The Department of Women claimed the role of rural women (14/10/2015)

Strengthen confidence of women themselves as key players in the development of rural areas and strengthen its visibility in both agricultural and domestic work are the main objectives of the V Day of Rural Women, which was held today in San Javier organized by the Department of Women and Equality of the City of San Javier in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, COAG-IR, the Association for the integral development of women in rural areas "Water and Land" and the Confederation of Women rural world, "Ceres".

The mayor, José Miguel Luengo, the council of Agriculture, Antonio Luengo and Women Estíbaliz Masegosa, and the president of COAG women in Murcia, Dolores Diaz welcomed the participants in the hall of the City of San Javier where several presentations were held throughout the morning to finish with a visit to Himoinsa, and a meal of conviencia and sharing on the same problem.

José Miguel Luengo stressed the importance of effective women has had on the development of the agricultural sector.

"A sector in San Javier has 170 companies and 60 percent of the entire municipal territory into production. Without the active participation of women would not be possible," he said.

The mayor of Women, Estíbaliz Masegosa urged to "believe in ourselves and in the essential role we play."

Masegosa also encouraged women to "express themselves and associate" as a way of combating inequality that still exists in sectors such as agriculture, where the vast majority of holdings are recorded by men, although women trained work.

The Councillor for Agriculture, Antonio Luengo considered "essential that the woman stepped forward and do not run in the background".

Luengo emphasized as "exemplary" the agricultural, livestock and fisheries in the municipality, the level of modernization that have come through the academic training of their owners, and it is women who have made this shift to occur prompting to study their children.

The president of Women of COAG-IR and Water and Land in the Region of Murcia, Dolores Diaz summed up his work and that of the Day of Rural Women held in San Javier 5 years, in seeking greater visibility of women in rural areas, whatever their role.

Dolores Diaz encouraged the attendees to participate after confirming the decline in the participation of women in promotion activities organized by the Association.

Thus he distributed a short questionnaire to meet the demands of women living in rural areas "to better defend their interests."

The day includes two other appointments, on 20 and 21 October, with the workshop "Put the brakes on your limits" which will be held in the office free of COAG-IR El Mirador.
