Public Works will invest more than three million in improvement work on the road linking the Port of San Javier Cadena (09/08/2008)

The Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation 3,167,613 euros invested in the proposed improvement works on the road sign C-3319, Puerto de la Cadena San Javier, which is intended to improve nearly 20,000 meters roadway between mile markers 0 to 13 and 16 to 23.

Moreover, within this action will strengthen all branches of acceleration and deceleration, upper and lower steps, the intersections of the existing links and new links with existing major roads to traffic in the area such as the F-13 (C-3319 San José de la Vega) and the F-22 (the C-3319 to Torre Pacheco).

According to Carmen Sandoval, Director General for Transport and Highways, "These improvement works will allow a road condition, such as this, has great traffic, being the daily average of 29,500 vehicles, the highest of all roads Road Network in the region. "

Moreover, according to Sandoval, the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) of heavy vehicles is the third highest of the road network of the autonomous region, reaching up to 2,257.

This is because the strategic situation of the road linking the motorway A-30, from Madrid and between Murcia and Cartagena, with the N-332, a road that serves the entire region of the Mar Menor coastal towns such as joining San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcazares, La Union and Cartagena, as floating population, particularly during the summer season, involves a large number of travelers through these roads.

Moreover, its connection to the N-332 also allows travel to the coast of Orihuela from the capital of the region, so this section is also used to reach the beaches of Torrevieja, Torre de la Horadada or Campoamor, so that this action will also benefit those living in these areas during their travel in the city of Murcia.

Development works involve extending 52,000 tons of hot asphalt mix with an average thickness of six inches, with which will be enhanced by driving on this road, and managed to increase road safety in many regular or occasional users who move the beaches of Mar Menor through it.

Thus, according to the CEO, "this intervention, along with others conducted in ways that articulate the costs of the Region Murcia allows moving to coastal municipalities through means of modern, safe and reliable, something of great importance, because for them runs a high number of vehicles, especially in summer times.
