Public Works begins work on a bicycle lane in the road between San Javier and Los Alcazares (22/09/2008)

The Minister of Works, Housing and Transport, José Ballesta, and the director general of Transport and Highways, Carmen Sandoval, presented this morning at a press conference the start of work on the bike path linking Santiago de La Ribera AFB San Javier, which will run the Department of Public Works on the highway F-34, which runs alongside the Mar Menor from La Ribera to the highway that connects Cabo de Palos to the Albujón.

"This is a stretch of 2.3 km to be run on a route frequented by cyclists, due to the great potential for tourism in the area, to the excellent weather conditions and the flatness of the terrain, both of which invite to cycling, "said Minister José Ballesta.

In this sense, the director general of Transport and Highways, Carmen Sandoval, stressed that this action "intends to continue with the connection network of bike paths that are driving the various municipalities in the region to promote sustainable mobility, through coordination of the ministries involved in this project: Tourism and Consumer Affairs, Culture, Youth and Sports, Sustainable Development and Public Works, Housing and Transportation. "

Twelve kilometers of bicycle paths executed

Pavement strengthening the F-34
