The Director General of Transport and Ports Ministry of Public Works and Planning, Carmen Sandoval, held this morning a visit to the Association for the Integration of the Disabled in the district of Mar Menor (Aideman) in order to submit an new vehicle adapted for the private transport of persons with disabilities.
With this and four vehicles are subsidized to this partnership over the years 2007 and 2008 by the Autonomous Community.
In total, a minibus with a capacity for two wheelchairs and thirteen people, two cars adapted nine people and another for eight users, involving a total grant of more than 65,000 euros.
During the ceremony, the director general said the "valuable work that the partnership is developing in the area of the region of San Javier", after its creation in 1983 by a group of parents with disabled children, currently serves about 500 people across its seven centers.
Sandoval said that "from the regional administration is working to support the needs of these groups and with measures of this type, it seeks to collaborate and facilitate their important social role."
In this regard, the Ministry of Public Works and Planning in 2007 awarded grants worth 164,500 euros to various associations for the purchase of eight vehicles, and in 2008 the endowment has increased 18 percent to 195,000 euros, which helped acquire a total of ten vehicles adapted for non-profit associations or put them to the needs of users with mobility problems.
