The mayor of San Javier and president of the Commonwealth Tourism Pepa García del Mar Menor and the Director General of Infrastructure of Tourism Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Marina Garcia presented this morning in Santiago de laRibera, three new beach cleaning equipment acquisition that will go to the beach cleaning services in the municipalities of San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcazares.
Marina Garcia also announced the upcoming delivery of a fourth machine to the town of Cartagena.
The four machines, high technology and manufactured in Spain by the company Beach Trotters, have made a total investment of 240,000 euros, financed through a grant of 75 percent provided by the Directorate General of Tourism Infrastructure for 2008, and the contribution of the four municipalities across the Commonwealth of the remaining 25 percent, as explained by Marina Garcia, who pointed out that since the establishment of the Commonwealth have invested more than 3 million euros in the Mar Menor.
The mayor of San Javier, Pepa García has highlighted the benefits of new beach cleaning machines "that in addition to clean, oxygenate the sand ensuring the best state of the beach both in cleaning and disinfection of sharp objects or harmful."
The mechanism of the machine, pulled by a tractor which regulates the depth of cleaning is to remove the sand that passes through a sieve to clean leaving smoothed return.
The presentation was attended by the Councillor of Tourism of San Javier, Jesus Montesinos, as well as their counterparts in St. Peter's Paint and Cartagena, and the Mayor of Los Alcazares.
