The treatment consists of spraying the palm using a microscopic organism (Steinernema carpocapsae) which acts as parasite feeding on weevil larvae contributing to the elimination of biological form.

Garcerán Antonio explained that this new treatment has been applied so far in the palms of the park in Los Urrea, to determine by monitoring the same efficiency and, depending on the results, extended to the rest of the municipality.

Garcerán Antonio has shown hopeful that this new treatment provides better results than those used until now has not been able to eliminate the plague at this time is a resurgence due in part to indiscriminate pruning carried out during the months of summer.

From the Department of Parks and Gardens has appealed to people to keep palms pruned due to the danger of this type of action as a result of wounds caused by pruning or cleaning of them, palms are particularly sensitive to insect attacks.

It also recalls that the optimum time for pruning is from January to February, but only by eliminating dry palm and apply immediately after insecticide treatment or coating the cut areas with pasta healing.
