The site of San Blas in Santiago de la Ribera today celebrated its fiesta in honor of the martyr who gives name to the chapel next to the pine forest where throughout the day have camped hundreds of people from inside and outside the region of the Mar Menor.

Since early morning the pine forest has been filled with pilgrims who settled to spend the day in a festive atmosphere in which there have been the usual stalls and amusement rides.

Most devotees came at 10:00 pm

the church of Santiago de la Ribera from where the image of San Blas has gone home for the Brothers of Santiago and San Blas to start the procession, headed by the mayor of San Javier, Pepa García accompanied by Colonel director of the AGA, Juan Antonio Ortega Vázquez and other local authorities.

Pilgrims on foot dressed in the costume huertano, others on horseback and in carriages were escorted to the chapel Holy which held a Mass sung by the Rondalla orchard and St. James Choir.

María García Guillén, a resident of Santiago de la Ribera for many years has been to maintain the chapel of San Blas, has been awarded the title of Romera of the Year awarded by the Brotherhood of Santiago and San Blas, and the Festival Committee stressed that "delivery and collaboration with all matters relating to San Blas."
